SHIMLA, Dec 2: In a bid to switch over to extensive post harvest packaging technologies, Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Processing and Marketing Corporation has obtained licence to manufacture cider at its Jarol processing plant, in Mandi districts.Horticulture Minister Narinder Bragta said that state government was planning to devise measures to censure marketing surplus of apple produce. All experiments to manufacture cider from quality apple juice have been quite successful. ``Since HPMC has also got a licence to manufacture cider, the organisation would soon start commercial production of the fruit products,'' he said.
The Minister admitted that HPMC had been facing problems to sell out its stock of concentrate lying unsold in its stores. But talks were on at various levels to dispose of the stock. According to Bragta, HPMC had also plans to offer new juice selling outlets on highways and in urban towns including the Ridge, in Shimla.
