NEW DELHI, December 2: Renowned violinist Pandit V.G. Jog is to be felicitated at the 28th ITC Sangeet Sammelan to be held from December 4 to December 6, 1998, at the Siri Fort Auditorium.An annual event since 1971, the Sammelan brings to music lovers some of the finest talent from the field of Hindustani classical music. It also allows younger artists an opportunity to project themselves.
This year's participants include sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma and his son Rahul Sharma. Among the vocalists will be Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, Rajan and Sajan Mishra and Sadhana Deshmukh. The other participants will include T.N. Krishnan on the violin and Shahid Parvez on the sitar.
ITC chairman Y.C. Deveshwar will present the award to Pandit V.G. Jog of the Gwalior gharana. The other recipients of the award include stalwarts like Asgari Bai, Sideshwari Devi, Ustad Rahimmuddin Daggar, Hirabai Barodkar and Sitara Devi.
