One killed in accident A man was killed on the spot on Thursday morning when he was crushed under the wheels of a truck near Saroli Patia in Kapodara area, the police said. One Vastikamuni Raghunath Tiwari, who was travelling on a scooter on the Saroli Surat Road, was hit by a truck (GJ 5 D 1185) opposite Athwa Auto near Saroli Patia. Even as the rider died on the spot, a crowd reached the place and beat up the truck driver, who managed to flee, leaving the truck behind, the police added. A case under IPC 304 (a) and 279 as well as under sections of the Motor Vehicles Act has been registered in the police station.Assaulted A youth assaulted a person with a blade over an argument on Wednesday night, a case registered in the Salabatpura police station said. One Dilawar Mohammed Pinjara, a resident of Anwarnagar slum in the area, complained to the police that one Shabbir Kama Shaikh demanded Rs 15 from him and when the complainant refused to pay the money, a brief argument followed after which Shaikh allegedly slashed a blade across his chest and fled the scene. The police have registered a case under section 324, 294 (b) of the IPC as well section 135 of the BPA and are investigating. Theft A bag containing spare parts and cash worth Rs 90,000 was stolen by unidentified people on Wednesday night, the Mahidharpura police said. According to the police, Dharmendra Shah had kept a maroon bag containing cash of Rs 20,000 along with valuable spare parts of Rs 70,000 in his Maruti car parked on the cinema road.
