SURAT, Dec 3: The Department of Posts is organising the 28th Universal Postal Union Letter writing competition for young people all over the country on January 10, 1999 on `Writing to a Friend to Say What the Post Means to You in Your Everday Life'.The first prize carries Rs 2000, the second Rs 1500, and the third Rs 1000, besides certificates. There will be a consolation prize of Rs 250 for the best entry from each postal circle and a certificate each.
The best entry at the national level shall qualify as the official India entry for the international competition. The Bureau of the Universal Postal Union has announced attractive prizes for the competition.
School-going children upto 15 years of age as on March 31, 1999 can participate in this competition. Applications, in the prescribed format on a plain paper, should be accompanied by the birth certificate and three passport size photographs. The senior superintendent of Post Office Vadodara East Division, will conduct the competition for Vadodara post region, which includes Kheda to Valsad, Daman, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The competition will be held at the Postal Training Centre, opposite Aerodrome Harni Road, from 10 to 11 am.
