UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, December 7: There is a proposal to shift a number of government offices in Delhi to the outskirts of the national capital region (NCR), the Rajya Sabha was informed during question hour today.

Minister of State for Urban Affairs and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya informed the house that the offices which are likely to be shifted to Ghaziabad are the Research and Development Centre of the Postal Department and the Directorate of Inspection (northern circle), Department of Supply.

Five offices are likely to be shifted to NOIDA. They are the Coast Guard Headquarters (earlier at Ghaziabad), Department of Light Houses and Light Ships, Central Institute of Research and Training in Employment Service, Ministry of Labour, All India Soil and Land Use Survey, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation and the National Capital Region Planning Board.

The other offices include the National Crime Records Bureau under the Home Ministry (to any Delhi metropolitan town) and Commissioner of Payment of Department of Industrial Development (to any suitable location like Gurgaon).

While 1,822 flats are available under the general pool category at Faridabad, 820 such flats are available at Ghaziabad, the minister said.

Demolition: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has decided to demolish 220 flats constructed at Trilokpuri at a cost of Rs 173 lakh as these were declared unsafe because of poor quality of construction.

NCR: The regional plan 2001 for NCR, drawn up for reducing the population pressure on Delhi, is being implemented by the participating states of the NCR Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Hudco: During the ninth plan period (1997-2002), Hudco made a tentative allocation of Rs 15,490.25 crore for sanction to various housing and urban infrastructure projects in the country, Urban Affairs and Employment Minister Ram Jethmalani told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.

Street Artists: DDA has reported that the Kalakar Trust has been allowed to raise a structure for an open air theatre at their own cost on a piece of land near the Qutab Minar for promoting the activities of street artists. However, the title of the land remains with the DDA.

Judges: Additional Sessions Judges are one of the parties in nine cases pending in the Tis Hazari courts here, Law, Justice and Company Affairs Minister M. Thambidurai told the Lok Sabha during question hour.

The cases are dealt with in accordance with law. The fact that a superior judge is a party in a case before a junior judge does not have any relevance as decision on the case is made as per law, the minister said.
