NEW DELHI, DEC 8: The government has asked national oil companies including Indian Oil Corporation to release 20 lakh new gas connections during January-March, following revision of the new connections target to 35 lakh.In a communication to marketing directors of four oil marketing PSUs, ministry of petroleum and natural gas said that the new enrolment target for the current fiscal was revised from 25 lakh to 35 lakh.
On the basis of present per capita of kerosene allocation in Delhi of 26.36 kg per annum and assuming 5.52 persons per family/household, monthly reduction of kerosene oil allocation to Delhi would be 3638 million tonne, the ministry said.
The release of LPG connections under the Tatkal scheme up to 10 per cent of the new enrolment would also be made by the public sector companies, it added.
