VADODARA, Dec 8: The Gujarat Safety Council (GSC), in association with the State Factory Inspectorate, will organise the 20th Annual State Safety Conference in the city on December 10 and 11 on the theme `Safety for Sustained Development'.The conference will be inaugurated by State Minister for Labour and Employment Ashok Bhatt on December 10 at the General Education Auditorium, M S University at 9.15 am. Executive Director, Gujarat Refinery, P S Rao will deliver the key note address on the occasion. Over 500 delegates from various industrial units in the State are expected to participate in the conference.
Addressing newspersons on Tuesday, GSC Chairman Ramanbhai Patel said, ``The conference will focus on recent findings, developments and approaches to various important areas of safety management. While the GSC primarily deals with industrial, road and domestic safety measures, it is important that safety aspects in all areas be considered.''
GSC General Secretary P T Shah said that an exhibition on various aspects of safety will also coincide with the conference to create awareness among the masses. Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Urmilaben Patel will give away safety awards for industries, instituted by the Council in six categories in the concluding session of the conference, he added.
Those presenting papers at the conference include former Officer in-charge of the Central Control Room and disaster management expert Wing Commander (retd) Arun Kulkarni.
