Four arrested for murder
The Central District police say they have solved the December 2 murder of Munna, an autorickshaw driver, following the arrest today of four men accused of stealing a car. The four were arrested with a stolen car at New Delhi Railway Station. The police say the men confessed to having murdered Munna and dumped his body in Okhla. The four men -- Jasbir Singh, Rajender, Jai Shankar and Jai Shiv Prasad -- were in the car that was stolen in Ludhiana a month ago. The police recovered a button-activated knife from Don. The police also said that the men confessed to having murdered driver Munna, following an altercation Don had with him a few days earlier. Munna was strangled to death with a belt in a private taxi and dumped in Okhla.The face was smashed with stones, perhaps to prevent identification of the body.

Youth held for making counterfeit coins
A 19-year-old youth was yesterday arrested on the charge of making counterfeit five rupee coins in his Meena Enclave house in west Delhi. The accused, Avinash Kumar, is believed to have circulated around 350 fake coins in the market. As many as 550 counterfeit coins have been recovered from his house.

Acting on a tip-off, the Nangloi police raided Kumar's house and reportedly found him in the process of making the fake coins. The police have seized the dye, soft metals and clay mould used to make the coins.

The police say Kumar is a native of Uttar Pradesh. After dropping out of school while in Class X, Kumar started working as a TV mechanic in Rai Bareilly. He then shifted to Capital.

Shopkeeper shot at A shopkeeper was shot at by two unidentified persons. He was rushed to the G.T.B. Hospital, where he was reported to be out of danger. The victim, Salauddin, runs a provision store in Brahmpuri. The men reportedly came to his shop to purchase sugar. When he turned to pick up a polythene bag, one of the assailants fired at him. The bullet hit him in the hip. The assailants then fled the spot.

Three youths nabbed
The East district police today said they had solved five cases of snatching in Trilokpuri with the arrest of three youths. The accused have been identified as Lalit Sharma (19), Mohammed Yasin (20) and Faiyaz Ali (20), all residents of Bulandshahr in UP. They were arrested on Tuesday night in Mayur Vihar Phase II. In one of the cases, the youths reportedly stole Rs 5,000 from one Dany Joseph, who was taking the cash to his courier office in Pandav Nagar, at around 9.30 p.m. on December 3. Joseph is believed to have identified the accused.

Arms recovered
PCR van personnel recovered a loaded country-made pistol from Suresh, a resident of North Ghonda. The van responded to a call seeking help to rescue a boy who was said to have been beaten-up by the accused. The accused was handed over to the Bhajanpura police, where a case under Arms Act was registered against him.
