NEW DELHI, December 9: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is giving a serious thought to the running of the Vizzy Trophy tournament among university teams. In a positive move to improve the standard of inter-varsity cricket, Jyoti Bajpai, joint secretary of the BCCI and joint convenor of the Vizzy Trophy committee of the Board, today proposed holding of an annual match between a Combined Universities XI and Rest of India Under-19 squad.The proposal was put forward during a meeting of Vizzy Trophy committee held here today. The match will be conducted, subject to approval by the working committee of the BCCI. The inaugural edition of the Combined Universities XI vs Rest of India (u-19) match is likely to be played at the end of February next year, at the conclusion of the Vizzy Trophy, scheduled to be held in Varanasi from February 2 to 9. It was also proposed to field a Combined Universities team in the Buchi Babu, Moin-ud-Dowla and Sheesh Mahal tournaments to give proper exposure to university players.
It was also suggested that a Combined Universities team be sent on short tours to neighbouring countries (Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh) to gain international experience. Another important proposal made at today's meeting was doubling of fees for Vizzy Trophy players, from the present Rs 100 to Rs 200.

An unbeaten 103 by Maninder Singh helped Baba Eleven beat Aryan Colts by 24 runs in the Sanjay Gandhi memorial tournament.
