NEW DELHI, December 9: Former Delhi medium pacer Shankar Saini's fiery spell (4 for 12) helped Indian Airlines beat Poorvanchal XI from Varanasi by eight wickets in the eighth All India Davinder Singh memorial tournament for Tara Devi Mathur Trophy at Jamia Millia Islamia grounds here today. Asked to bat first, the Varanasi team was dismissed for a paltry 104 in 38 overs. Spinner Subhash Chaudhary (2 for 20) broke the middle-order after Saini had done the initial damage.Airlines reached the target in just 27.2 overs, losing two wickets in the process. In-form Onkar Singh made 35 while Haryana Ranji batsman Shafiq Khan (27 not out) and Karnataka opening batsman J. Arun Kumar (21) helped the team to reach the target easily. On Thursday, Airlines will clash with TYCA in the semi-final at Harbaksh Stadium. The final is slated for Friday at Harbaksh Stadium.
