CHANDIGARH, Dec 9: Sandeep Duggal scored a 3-1 win over Rajeev Bhardwaj while Manish Shrivastava blanked Sandeep Kochar 3-0 in the 16th Chandigarh State billiards and snooker championship being played at Chandigarh Billiards Coaching Centre in Sector 22.Top seed Sandeep Duggal began on a winning note by pocketing the first frame 63-20 but fumbled at crucial juncture in the second frame, to lose by 7 points (51-59). Sandeep's cue ball control and excellent potting enabled him to prevail over Rajeev in the third frame, who made a good start but missed some easy potting and paved the way for his seeded opponent.
In the decider, Sandeep made not mistake, and with a break of 35 points won the frame 74-14, to wrap the contest.
Sandeep Kochar was no match for second seed, Manish, who won the encounter with a remarkable ease 52-2, 60-15, 64-12. Manish will face Manav Dhawan in the quarterfinals.
In another match, Sameer Bhalla beat Gurpreet Singh 77-31, 66-32, 64-43 Ashok Sharma defeated Pardeep Kinger 46-40, 59-32, 53-37 while GB Singh struggled to beat Vineet Khosla 43-56, 95-19, 76-37, 33-54, 48-20.
In billiards, RK Duggal beat Amar Benipal 236-350 while Parveen Duggal outplayed Ajay Chandel 587-245.
