DECEMBER 16: The administrative staff of All India Radio and Doordarshan today held a day-long dharna at the Doordarshan Kendra even as their countrywide work-to-rule agitation entered its eighth day.The All India Radio and Doordarshan Administrative Staff Association has demanded time-bound promotion to lower division clerks and upper division clerks, revision of pay scales, and upgradation of the post of the Inspector of Accounts to Deputy Director (Administration). The staff have also demanded pay parity with their counterparts in the engineering and programme departments.
Earlier, the administrative staff of AIR and DD had gone on a three-day nationwide strike, but had withdrawn the agitation following assurances that their above demands will be fulfilled within a month.
``However, even after a lapse of one year, none of our demands have been conceded,'' association's unit secretary, Ramaswamy Iyengar said in a press released issued today. About 7,000 employees of AIR and DD all over the countryare participating in the strike.
