"He asked where you stayed in Moscow"
This conversation is between Vice Admiral Harinder Singh and Vice Admiral Vinod Pasricha, the Eastern Naval Command chief. And the `Vinod' in the conversation is Cdr (retd) V K Chaudhury, representative of Crown Corporation in Moscow, the firm which is one of the principal suppliers of defence equipment to India.HS: But tell me that he was asking questions they were only in relation to Moscow?
VP: Yeah. On your leave in Moscow, and where you stayed and what your leave application said, that kind of questions.
HS: Yeah, but I am sure that, what his intentions are. I have known them for very long and I don't understand the...Vinod and I are so close, thick as thieves. Meena (my wife) and Shagun (Mrs V K Chaudhury) are like sisters, and he and I, even pre-NDA (pre 1958) at that. And here the gentleman wants to look, obviously and I have nothing to do with any acquisition programme at all and in any case, Vinod does not look afteror to do anything with India. He is looking after the Mid-East, Syria, Algeria, etc.
