VADODARA, Dec 16: The kidneys and other physical organs of Mahesh Vasava, the disabled boy who was allegedly kidnapped by a tribal woman -- now in hospital after being allegedly raped and tortured while in police custody on that charge -- so that they could be removed and sold, had been found to be intact, highly placed sources in SSG Hospital told Express Newsline on Wednesday. Vasava was brought to the hospital late on Tuesday evening by the police for a physical examination. After a thorough examination by medico-legal officers, Vasava was discharged as there was no sign of removal of any bodily organ. According to the doctors, he had not even lost any blood.
It may be recalled that a week ago, a section of district BJP leaders headed by panchayat president Kalyan Patel had alleged that the police was only investigating the torture of the tribal woman while glossing over her less-than-perfect background.
They said the woman was charged with kidnapping Vasava with the aim of having his kidney and blood removed for sale, a fact that the police were not investigating.
Police sources, meanwhile, said the investigation of the case was going on strong and that the boy's medical examination would form part of the evidence.
