Wood seized
The Valsad police seized 8610 kg kher wood worth Rs 2.58 lakh on Tuesday evening and arrested two persons in the connection, while one managed to escape. According to details, a team of Kaprada police of the district chased a truck (GJ 15 V 7570) and seized the wood. PSI L S Chaudhary along with other staff arrested one Rafiq Miya of Umargam and Sanjay Kopri, from Vapi while a third escaped. They have been booked under sections 379, 411, 120 (b) and 114 of the IPC as well as section 26(1)(f) of the Reserve Forest Act.

Closing function
The closing function of a nature education camp, organised by the Dangs forest department in association with the forest departments of Navsari and Valsad district, will be held in Ahwa on Saturday. Students of more than 50 schools of three districts are taking part in the camp, according to Ram Kumar, DFO (South), Dangs. The camp, which began on November 29 will continue till December 18. Drawings, charts and other works of students willbe on display at the function.

Science congress
The VIth National Children's Science Congress will be inaugurated on Thursday at 10 am at Kendriya Vidyalaya no 1, Icchanath. A total 41 Kendriya Vidyalayas of Ahmedabad region will participate in the congress. The theme of the congress is `Nature: Let us Conserve, Share and Care'.
