IITians' Mood to paint city Indigo

MUMBAI, DEC 18: It's that time of the year again at the Indian Institute of Techonology (IIT), Powai. Mood Indigo, the youth festival which attracts more than 30,000 students and the best of talent from all over the country, will happen at the IIT campus between December 20 and 23.

The theme this year is `Bombayed'; the organisers' mission, to reflect the different colours that are Mumbai: The red of glamour, the green of money, the black of fear. `Indradhanush,' will exhibit photos, newspaper clippings and trivia on Mumbai. At `Horizons', the nuances of cartooning, dramatics and playing the guitar will be taught. `Nariman Point' will be based on aqua games in the campus pool. And `Informals' will be hosted alongside.

There would also be documentaries, footages, rare film screenings, talks and interactive sessions with exciting contests and prizes worth 2.75 lakh to be won.

On December 20, a classical music concert will be held, featuring Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma accompained by his son Rahul and UstadShahfat Ahmed Khan. And the next day, `Fusion Nite' will bring greats like Zakir Hussain, Vikku Vinayakaram, Taufiq Qureshi, Sultan Khan, Bhavami Shankar and Rajaram together.

Marc Robinson, Netra Raghuraman and Preeti of Chui Mui fame will judge a fashion show `Vogue '98' on the third day. Also scheduled is a performance by Silk Route. And the crowd-grabber Livewire, considered the Mecca for upcoming rock bands, will feature bands from as far as Meghalaya.
