The departments for which adalats have been constituted are agriculture, cooperatives, excise and taxation, food and supplies, forests, health, home/police, horticulture, industries, mpp and power, public works, irrigation, public health, rural development, revenue, tourism, transport, tribal development, urban development, welfare and primary education.

According to a notification issued in this connection, these adalats will look into cases relating to policy gaps or inadequacies, inappropriate or inadequate provisions in acts and rules, improvement in organisation and institutions, especially their public interest and non-implementation of instructions and individual grievances of serious nature.

The Minister-in-charge will be the chairman of the adalat and secretary of development, head of department, heads of boards and corporations under the department will be members of the adalat while the jointsecretary/additional secretary of the department will be its secretary.
