Girls under-19 team for Nayadu trophy

CHANDIGARH, Dec 18: The Chandigarh Education Department has selected 16 girls and four standbyes for the coaching camp in preparation for the forthcoming C K Nayadu cricket tournament for under-19. The girls were selected after the section trials helda the Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 32 here today.

According to a press release issued by Assistant Education Officer, Education Department, Prem Puri, the selected girls will undergo coaching at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium. The camp will begin on December 21 under the supervision of Chandigarh Sports Department coach Harish Kumar. The selected girls have been directed to report to Harish Kumar at 9 a.m. on December 21.

Those selected are:
Nitasha (Dev Samaj, Sector 21), Anupma (Dev Samaj-21), Anju (GMHSS-21), Sarika (GMHSS-21), Parun Sharma (Wk, DEv Samaj-21), Kusum (Dev Samaj-21), Tripat (GMHS-28), Arti Negi (GGSSS-8), Anuradha (Dev Samaj-21), Kavita (GMHS-28), Mamta Negi (GGSSS-8), Lalita Bhandari (GMHSSS-20), Nitasha Kaushik (GMHSSS-21), Ritu Chauhan (GMHS-28), Jyoti (GMHSSS-35) and Sahilaja (Wk, Dev Samaj-21).

Standbyes: Manpreet (St Annes-32), Tarujot (Dev Samaj-21), Shiwani (MRA-27) and Lalita (GGSSS-8).Golf tourney
The Chandigarh Golf Association is organising golf tournament for civil officers of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Central Government officers posted in the Union Territory, SAS Nagar and Panchkula at Chandigarh Golf Club here from January 10 next year.

According to CGA general secretary CSR Reddy members of the Chandigarh Golf Club belonging to civil services posted outside are also eligible to take part in the championship.

Entry forms, which are available at the counter of the Chandigarh Golf Club, must be submitted before January 5 next year.

ABC clinic
The Asian Basketball Confederation is conducting a three-day clinic for Indian coaches in Delhi from December 28 to 30, according to Ravinder Talwar, general secretary of the Chandigarh Basketball Association. Tom McCarthy, chief executive officer of the ABC Promotion Limited will be incharge of the camp.

The CBA has sponsored the names of K S Bharti and Amarjit Singh, both of Chandigarh Sports Department, for the clinic.
