Differences within Congress camp over Patents Bill
An ideological tussle is on in the Congress on the Patents (Amendment) Bill, 1998, between the staunch supporters of economic reforms and the supporters of swadeshi. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has convened a meeting of the party's Legislative Affairs Committee in Parliament today.

Kanshi, Tohra meet complicates Akali row
The Shiromani Gurdwarak Parbhandak Committee (SGPC) chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra held a closed-door meeting with the BSP chief Kanshi Ram at the UT State Guest House on Sunday morning. The meeting holds significance in view of the ongoing tussle between the Badal and Tohra factions in the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

Centre rebukes DMK chief's charges of protecting Jaya
The Government will not relent in its fight against corruption, the Prime Minister's Office has declared, in response to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's allegation that the government was trying to bail out AIADMK chief, J Jayalalitha, from the corruption cases against her in the special courts.
