MUMBAI, December 22: An unbeaten half century by opener Vishal Tiwrekar and his 110 runs partnership for the first wicket with Swapnoj Thakur, helped defending champions IES V N Sule Guruji beat Amrut Education to enter the semi-finals of the MSSA-Colgate Inter-School Harris Shield cricket tournament at the M B Union ground, Cross maidan, oday.Amrut Education, after winning the toss, elected to bat and were bowled out for 106. Opener Abu Shal carried his bat through the innings, while remaining unbeaten on 52. Medium pacer Anand Dalvi captured four wickets for 22 runs in 9.5 overs.
The Champions, chasing a small total, reached the target in just 15.4 overs. Thakur made 47, while Tiwrekar scored 50 in their unbeaten first-wicket stand.
In the other quarter-final, last year's runners-up Balmohan Vidyamandir hit up 326 against Bombay Scottish. Thanks to half centuries by Harshad Rawale (83, 12x4) and Pawan Bhosle (54, 5x4)) and their 94-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Vinayak Mule was the othermain run-getter with 42.
Siddharth Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers with 4-82. At close of play, Bombay Scottish were 36-2.
