ROHTAK, Dec 22: Sunita of Ajaib village of Meham sub-division of this district who had sustained severe burns along with three other members of her family on Friday last, succumbed to her injuries in Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sarma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences here today.The other three members of her family, her husband Ishwar Singh and two minor daughters, were charred to death in their sleep under mysterious circumstances in their house.
Meanwhile the police have registered a case against Sumitra under sections 302, and 307 in Meham, according to SSP P.K. Aggarwal.
It may be recalled that BSF Jawan, Ishwar Sing, his wife Sunita, and their two minor daughters, Renu and Ritu, were sleeping in their room when all of them got engulfed in a fire at about 2 am. Ishwar and his two daughters succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while Sunita died in the Medical College today.
According to some of the villagers, Sunita had reportedly told them that somebody doused them in kerosene oil and set them on fire. She is said to have reportedly claimed that she had strained relations with Sumitra, wife of her husband's brother.
On the other hand, some of the villagers have said that the incident took place accidentally as a night lamp burning at night fell on a container of kerosene and caught fire.
Aggarwal said that the case was under investigation. He said the law would take its own course.No arrest has however, been made so far.
