Surat body to honour Desai
The Surat Citizens' Council will felicitate noted Sarvoday leader Narayan Desai on December 26 at the People's Bank Hall at 6 pm. Valod-based Desai was recently honoured with the UNESCO International Award for spreading the message of non-violence and tolerance. While noted poet Jayant Pathak will preside over the function, Desai will deliver a talk on `Tolerance and Non-Violence'.

Skating race
The Lions Club of Surat (Maitri) organised a skating marathon from Vapi to Nadiad as part of a fund-raising campaign for the disabled. Two children, Tapan Ashlot, 9, and Maulik Patel, 10, participated in the skating marathon which concluded on Tuesday in Nadiad. They passed through Valsad, Chikhali, Bilimora, Navsari, Kamrej, Ankleshwar, Bharuch, Vadodara, Borsad and Anand before culminating at Nadiad.

Postponed
An open house to be organised by the Civil Supply Department on December 24 has been postponed. It will now be held on January 2. Civic Supply Minister Jaspal Singh is expected to be present for the open house.

Entrance exam
The entrance examination for admission to standard VI and IXth in the Jamnagar Sainik School (balachadi) for the next academic session will be held on February 21, 1999. While the VIth standard examination will be conducted in the recognised language, the standard IX examination will be conducted only in English. Those interested should obtain application forms along with the prospectus from the school principal.

Contest winners
Vadodara: Siddhant Shukla and Vivek of the Don Bosco High School won the Rotating Trophy in the Inter School Debate Competition organised recently by the Baroda High School, Alkapuri.
