Ansar Public School enter final

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Dec 22: Ansar Public School, Perumpilavu, lads maintained their winning streak by handing 3-1 defeat to local SD Public School-32, in the semifinal of the inaugural edition of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) national football tournament being played at DAV School ground in Sector 8. St Aloysius School, Jabalpur edged out Bokaro Ispat School, Bokaro, 3-1 via tie-breaker in the other semifinal.

In the first semifinal, the local SD School-32 team besides endurance lacked coordination to match well knit Perumpilavu boys, who took time to settle down.

It was SD School-32 which drew the first blood when Satinder scored in the 8th minute. Thereafter, their attacking line fumbled near the penalty area and were unable to penetrate the rival defence.

On the other hand, the eventual winners combined well and increased the tempo of the game in the later part of the encounter, to which SD school lads had no answer.

Shabeer Ismail, who scored the first hat-trick of the meet in the quarterfinal match, yesterday, with a superb shot levelled the score in the 18th minute. And just before the half, Shah Nawaz consolidated the lead for Perumpilavu (2-1).

After the break, Shah Nawaz scored his second and team's third goal in the 48th minute.

In the second semifinal, Jabalpur and Bokaro played a goalless draw in the regulation period. In the tie-breaker, Amit, M Baksh and Vikrant scored for Jabalpur while Rahul netted for Bokaro.

Earlier, Jabalpur defeated Translam Academy, Meerut by a solitary goal in their quarterfinal encounter.
