VADODARA, Dec 22: Rapidly swooping layers of cake and cream, the chocolate icing-laden faces made best of the 60 sixty seconds time limit to gorge on their respective pastry slices at `Ek Minute Pastry Eating Contest' organised here by the Rotaract Club of Baroda Roundtown on Tuesday.Drawing participation from 113 people, the programme was conducted in 10 rounds, divided among man and woman participants, as part of `The X-Mas Hungama' at the newly opened Shri Gandhi Pastry Wagon in Sayajigunj. The fastest eater in each round, who could eat the most in one minute, qualified for the semi-finals. While a total 275 pastries were consumed by the contestants, a special seven-feet long cake in the form of a Christmas tree was baked by the Wagon for the occasion. Said shop owner Ramesh Thadani, ``The idea was basically to let the youth have some fun in keeping with the spirit of the festive season''. While the special cake was made over a period of two days, the shop had freshly baked the pastry pieces for the contest.
Bunty in the men's group and Charanjeet Kaur in the women's group were declared winners after the final round. They won vouchers worth Rs 300 each.
