NEW DELHI, December 22: Delhi began their campaign in girls hockey event of the 44th National School Games when they defeated Chandigarh 2-0 here today. Chinta and parveen were the goal scorers. In boys section, Punjab beat Chandigarh 5-0 and Himachal defeated Haryana 3-1.In cricket, the hosts beat Chandigarh by 34 runs. The Games were inaugurated by Chief Minister Sheila Dixit at Chhattarsal Stadium.
Results: Hockey (boys): Punjab bt Chandigarh 5-0, HP bt Haryana 3-1. (Girls): Delhi bt Chandigarh 2-0. Cricket: Haryana bt MP, Orissa bt Daman Diu by seven wickets, Delhi bt Chandigarh by 34 runs. Wrestling: U-14: 25 kg: Sonu (Dli) bt Khuswant Singh (Har) 4-0, Pundilika (Ker) bt Shrikant (AP) 3-1, Dalbir (Raj) bt Vikram (Guj) 4-0. 28 kg: Yogesh (Dli) bt jaibir (Har) 4-0, Mahesh (Raj) bt Jaswant (AP) 4-0, Sukhjit (Pb) bt Bharat (Guj) 4-0, Ashok (Mah) bt Rajinder (Kar) 4-1. 30 kg: Somvir (Dli) bt Nav Singh (Mah) 3-1, Alok bt Satish (Chandi) 4-0, Dinesh (MP) bt Jitender (Raj) 4-0, Vikram (Guj) bt Umakant. 32 kg: Kulbir (Dli) bt Mukal (Chand) 4-1, V Ashish (MP) 4-0, Surender bt Narsingh (Guj) 4-0. 35 kg: Jitender bt Dravid (Guj) 4-0, Abhay bt Mayank 4-0.
