VHP wants loudspeakers removed from mosques

KOLHAPUR, Dec 27: Activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal today held a day-long dharna outside Lakshmipuri police station in the city demanding that the loudspeakers used in mosques be removed immediately.The move has come in for criticism from several quarters as the issue has been raked up during the month of Ramzan. Lakshmipuri police informed that the situation was under control. Two months ago Bajrang Dal activists from Kolhapur had threatened to launch a massive agitation over the issue.
