VADODARA, Dec 27: A meeting between the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) and the cabin wallahs, convened by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Jaspal Singh on to discuss the relocation of the 130 cabins which were demolished by the VMC at Lehripura last year, ended in a stalemate on Saturday. The three options of areas near Chowkhandi, opposite Rupam Cinema at Harni and the basement of Padmavati Complex, opposite Nayamandir, for relocating their cabins was rejected by the cabinwallahs, highly placed sources told Express Newsline. It may be recalled that the cabinwallahs had earlier rejected a site offered near Panigate.
The cabinwallahs reportedly put forth that the corporation propose to the State government allow sale of plots to the the cabinwallahs at reduced prices. Local MLAs present at the meeting raised objection to the proposal saying that the demand was unreasonable considering that the matter was sub-judice. They said that the cabinwallahs would have to withdraw their case against the State government if they expected such a demand to be considered.
