Four held for assaulting woman Four persons were held on Monday for slapping and threatening a Bharatiya Janata Party activist of Nandesari village Meenakshi Vyas on Sunday morning. According to Chhani police, a marathon race had been organised by the village panchayat and a senior official of the Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited had been invited as chief guest. When the race was about to be flagged off, Meenakshiben also climbed on the dais which infuriated her rivals in the party who slapped her in full public view and threatened her of serious consequences for coming to the function. The Chhani police booked a case and arrested Doolabhai Shankarbhai Gohil,Rajendra Mangalsinh Gohil, Surendra Mangasinh Gohil and Melabhai Doolabhai Gohil in this connection.House-breaking Surat: Two cases of house-breaking by night were registered in separate police stations of the city on Monday. In the first case in the Chowk Bazaar police station, unidentified persons entered the Shrinathji Apartments in the Nanavat area and decamped with goods that have not been identified as yet. Ketan Chandrakant, who owns an office adjacent to the house, complained to the police that the persons first broke into his office and then one Savitaben Shah's locked house. In the second case registered by Jaysukh Prajapati at the Katargam police station, unidentified persons broke into his diamond workshop at Morar Ni Wadi in the night and decamped with diamonds worth Rs 20,700.
