Cong marks formation day
A number of programmes, including hoisting of the tricolour at the city Congress office, distributing fruits among patients at the hospital and a meeting were organised by the city unit of the Congress to mark the party's 114th Formation Day on Monday. City president Thakore Naik unfurled the national flag at the party office in Nanpura, followed by distribution of fruits among patients of the Civil Hospital. Later in the evening, a `vicharmanthan' programme was held.

Students do well
All 10 students of the city's Gandhi Engineering College, who presented their works at Sarjan '98, an exhibition cum competition organised in Ahmedabad by the Tantra Shikshan Vidhyarthi Parishad, a branch of the ABVP, returned with prizes. A statement by ABVP city unit secretary Dharmesh Shah said that all 10, who were in the Electronics (D C Drive), Electronics (Remote Control), Mechanical (Stradle Milling Fixture) and Electrical (Digital Technology) categories, returned with prizes. More than 150 students of polytechnics from all over the state took part in the competition held at the Sanskar Kendra on December 12 and 13.

Book fair held
The C M Academy, Bharuch organised a three-day book fair on December 12, 13 and 14 which was attended by a large number of people. The fair was inaugurated by J K Shah, Executive Director, GNFC. He is also the president of the Book Lovers Forum, Bharuch.

Elocution contest
