Govt teachers meet Dikshit

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, December 28: A delegation of the Academics for Action and Development (AAD) today met Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and submitted a memorandum demanding `depoliticisation' of governance in Delhi government colleges. The memorandum has suggested that colleges follow the guidelines of the Gnanam Committee Report on university governance.

This report recommends that no MLA should be on the management of a university or the colleges. It further states that only professionals like academicians, jurists, journalists and reputed social workers should be nominated to college governing bodies, from which former MLAs and MPs should be excluded.

In response to their demands, the chief minister is believed to have said that merit would be given priority in selecting nominees for the governing bodies.
