Lt Governor hands out DCE degrees

NEW DELHI, December 28: The convocation for the graduating batch of 1997-98 of the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) was held today at their new, sprawling 166-acre campus on Bawana Road in north-west Delhi. Lt Governor Vijai Kapoor, Education Minister Narendra Nath, All India Council of Technical Eduation Vice-Chairman Prof D V Singh, DCE Principal Prof P B Sharma and Secretary (Technical Education) R Chandramohan were present at the ceremony.The LG presented 385 bachelor's and master's degrees to the students. Highlighting the major achievements of the year, Prof P B Sharma said that he had introduced two new programmes polymer science and chemical technology and environmental engineering at the bachelor's level. Education Minister Narendra Nath said that all vocational institutions and professional colleges should seek affiliation with the newly constituted Indraprastha Vidyalaya to ensure better opportunities for students in the Capital.
