NEW DELHI: The government today released 7.50 lakh tonnes of sugar for sale in open market in January, while allowing sale of 7.25 lakh tonnes in February and 7.50 lakh tonnes in march in the open market. It also released 3.69 lakh tonnes of sugar each for public distribution system for the first three months of 1999, an official press release said. With the release of sugar for open market and PDS, a total quantity of sugar available for January, February and March would 11.19 lakh tonnes, 10.94 lakh tonnes and 11.19 lakh tonnes respectively.

Kale software

MUMBAI: Kale Consultants Ltd (KCL) has got its software successfully audited for Y2K compliance from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. IIT has reviewed the software and the environment in detail and tested Plutus for any possible Y2K problem. After a thorough review, IIT has certified Plutus as Y2K compliant. They have observed that the Plutus product version 6, handles dates correctly and does not face any problems in handling the century change.

The product has been carefully engineered in that all date related code is properly isolated. This results in bettercontrol over changes in date-related processing. The company has adequate code and release control mechanisms.
