Armed men loot valuables
Four armed miscreants looted gold ornaments worth Rs 15,000 from a woman in Sringagar Society in the nearby Jharod village under Waghodia police station on Tuesday night and assaulted another occupant of the house, who tried to overpower one of the thieves. According to the Waghodia police, four youths carrying sharp-edged weapons entered bungalow no 6-A of the society at 4.45 am through the ventilator and broke open the cupboard. While they were searching for cash and valuables, two family members Shardaben and Sanat Kumar woke up. The gang overpowered them and relieved the woman of her gold chain and other ornaments. Another family member Nilesh Kumar was attacked by sharp-edged weapons when he tried to catch one of them while they were trying to escape. A case has been registered in the police station and investigations are on, the police said.

Bid to end life
One Jayshreeben Bipinbhai Dikshit, 30, a resident of Chaitanya Seri in Sultanpura locality, attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the Sursagar Lake on Wednesday afternoon. According to fire brigade sources, the woman was immediately rescued and admitted to the SSG Hospital for treatment.

Good gutted
Goods worth Rs 3000 was gutted in a minor fire in the factory of Tula Shelf Centre on Ranmuketeshwar Road in Wadi area on Wednesday morning. According to fire brigade personnel, workers were cutting iron sheets when the fire broke out, damaging property.
