VADODARA, Dec 30: Sleuths of the Railway Vigilance Department on Tuesday arrested one Naresh Rasiklal Shah (49) of Ahmedabad who was posing himself as a vigilance officer of the railways and travelling without a ticket on the Gandhidham-Vadodara intercity train.The Government Railway Police here said a case under sections 138 and 155 of the Indian Railway Act has been registered against Shah, who is an employee of the Gujarat Electricity Board in Ahmedabad. While he was occupying seat number 72 in coach no. S/4, he also threatened action against several other passengers for entering the coach without proper tickets.
However, during a surprise check at Anand railway station, vigilance officers M K Agnihotri and Z A Kazi caught him red-handed when he introduced himself as a vigilance officer when asked to show his ticket. He was handed over to the government railway police in Vadodara.
He was produced in the court of railway magistrate G M Patel on Wednesday, who fined him Rs 452 and a simple imprisonment of 20 days, in case of non-payment of fine.
