SURAT, Dec 30: The city police commissioner on Wednesday evening issued a warning stating that legal action would be initiated those found consuming liquor and other intoxicating substances and violating law on New Year's eve.In the statement, Kuldip Sharma said that 10 prison vans would be stationed at different parts city especially to arrest those found indulging in anti-social activities and eve-teasing. The warning has been issued keeping in mind the flow of liquor and other celebrations on New Year's eve.
In the statement, Sharma said that no hotels, larris or restaurants would be allowed to operate after 11 pm on Thursday night without the prior permission of the police. The licences of all such restaurants and hotels operating after 11 pm would be suspended.
In another step taken specifically for the occasion, Sharma stated that all vehicles that are parked wrongly from Athwa Gate to Dumas, and impeding traffic, would be towed away.
