Faridabad silica mine owner charged with rape
The Faridabad district police have registered an FIR against silica mine owner and real estate agent Brij Bhan Bhadana on the charge of rape and criminal intimidation, filed by his former employee's wife. Bhadana had contested elections to the Haryana Assembly on a Congress ticket in 1996.

``We have already begun preliminary investigation in the matter,'' said the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohammad Aqil.

Bus conductor stabbed by passenger
A 35-year-old bus conductor was stabbed by an identified person in a bus plying between Jama Masjid and Gazipur on route number 211 on Tuesday evening. Sripal is believed to have asked three men who boarded the bus at the stand near Gazipur Road to buy tickets. They ignored him, and when he insisted one of them whipped out his knife and stabbed the bus conductor and got off the bus.

Father, youth held for attempt to murder
A 60-year-old man, Lattu Chacha, and his 19-year-old son, Hari Singh, have been arrested by the Timarpur police on the charge of attempt of murder. The two allegedly tried to kill Budh Ram over some dues. Ram along with his friend Rakesh had a fight with Lattu and his two sons Hari and Bhagat Singh on Tuesday night over the 500-rupee amount that Ram owed Lattu. Things became serious when the accused hit Ram and his friend with a lathi and a sharp-edged weapon. The two were hospitalised and Lattu and Hari Singh arrested. Bhagat Singh is said to be absconding.

954 vehicles booked on Tilak Marg in a week
The Delhi Traffic Police booked 954-odd vehicles including 309 cars, 47 Blueline buses, 39 DTC buses, 71 private buses and 439 two-wheelers for various violations on Tilak Marg earmarked as No Tolerance Zone on December 21. Common offences included violating the stop line (172), defective registration plates (207), missing helmet (37), non-possession of driving license and ownership papers, red-light jumping and one-way violation. In addition, 7 LGVs, 13 Blueline buses, 9 DTC buses, 6 private buses and 43 cars were hauled up for overspeeding.

1 guard killed, another hurt
Rishipal (21) and Ajay (20), reported missing from Mayur Vihar on the night of December 28, were today found in Noida sector-58 and Khora colony respectively.

While Ajay had succumbed to his injuries, Rishipal was taken to a Delhi hospital with serious head injuries. From Rishipal's account, it seems they were forced into a van with around five to six persons from outside the gas agency they were employed to guard, after objecting to the vehicle's wayward parking. According to the police, all the assailants have been identified and efforts are on to arrest them.
