Mahajan refuses to condemn VHP

NEW DELHI, DEC 31: Information and Broadcasting Minister Pramod Mahajan today refused to condemn the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) for its reported involvement in attacks on Christian minorities saying there was no proof against the VHP in this regard.``Don't ask me to condemn the VHP. When I don't have proof of its involvement, I will not condemn it,'' Mahajan said here. The Minister, who had reportedly defended the VHP in relation to the Gujarat incidents, said he was ``misquoted'' on his statements. Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
