Elusive sun casts a shadow

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Dec 31: The euphoria over bright and sunny days came to an end today with the sun playing hide-and-seek over the city and the surrounding areas.

The day was relatively cooler as compared to yesterday with the mercury dropping by about 2 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature was 20.6 degree Celsius compared to 22.4 degrees yesterday. The night temperature remained more or less the same. Sources at the Meteorological Centre here predict a clear sky over the city tomorrow.

Amritsar with 0.8 degrees Celsius -- three degrees below normal -- continued to be the coldest place in the plains, while the meteorological office recorded the minimum temperature at 3 degrees Celsius at Ludhiana.

The mercury, meanwhile, hovered around 5.6 degrees Celsius at Jalandhar. Ambala recorded the lowest temperature of 6.5 degrees Celsius.
