BHOPAL, JAN 1: Madhya Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party president Nand Kumar Sai suspects ``international conspiracy'' behind the Gujarat events as the Western countries including the USA are not able to adjust to the growing clout of India.Sai said in a statement today that the minorities, whether in Jammu and Kashmir, Mizoram, Gujarat or other states, should get full protection. He, however, advised the political parties to observe restraint in reacting to these happenings. To blame ``one parivar'' for every event was also a form of communalism and the manner in which some non-BJP political parties and Christian organisations were issuing ``one-sided'' statements was not proper, he said.
The State BJP chief said that ``appeasement of communal mentality'' was not in the interest of the nation. While the Gujarat events deserved to be condemned, one failed to agree with those who looked at these events from their own selfish point of view. The Kashmiri Pandits were forced out of Jammu and Kashmir and theirwomenfolk had been humiliated for the past two decades but these members of the intelligentsia had been keeping mum. The same was true in respect of developments in the North-East. Doesn't it mean tacit support to terrorism in the country? Sai asked.
The state BJP chief said that if the intelligentsia looked at the Gujarat events from the same point of view of appeasement, it would mean that they were allowing themselves to be used by the conspirators. The events of the past two decades have shown that ``our selfishness has been responsible for the expansion of the foreign agencies in our country.'' The State BJP chief wondered that those who were blaming ``one organisation'' for the Gujarat events were actually playing in the hands of the ISI and the CIA.
