Singh to chair session at Gujarati meet
Governor Anshuman Singh will chair a session at the World Gujarati Meet, organised by the Vishwa Gujarati Samaj, in Vadodara on Monday. A statement said Singh would arrive in Vadodara by a helicopter around 10.15 am and proceed for the Circuit House before leaving for the meet at about 10.50 am at Shivmahal Palace Grounds, Sardar Patel Nagar.

Sarvaiya retires
Balrajsinh Sarvaiya, superintendent of the Beggars' Home, Department of Social Defence, retired after 30 years of distinguished service. He was given a warm farewell by senior officials of the district collectorate on Friday. Prior to his last appointment in Vadodara about three years ago, Sarvaiya served in different capacities in various wings of the Social Welfare Department in Rajkot, Surat and Ahmedabad. He has also done commendable work in researches pertaining to juvenile offence, beggars and destitutes.

Appointed
Sadanand Apte, an official of the State Bank of India, has been appointed as the publicity secretary in the social and cultural forum Sanskar Bharati for the State, a forum release said on Sunday.

Liaison work
Chairman of the State Non-Resident Gujaratis' Foundation and known journalist Hari Desai has said the newly set up Foundation would work as a link between Gujaratis abroad wishing to invest in the State and the State Government. He clarified that the government had not set up the Foundation to counter the Vishwa Gujarati Samaj, but will be complementary to it.
