MUMBAI: Hindustan Organic Chemicals Limited (HOCL) has registered 5.85 per cent growth in sales for 1998 at 1.85 lakh tonnes and improved production by 7.19 per cent to 2.8 lakh tonnes. A press release from the company, attributed the improved performance to introduction of management audit systems, organisation studies, performance monitoring and internal control. It said the raw material cost per tonne of production was also down by 12.22 per cent, while consumption of utilities was down by 2.84 per cent.

AIAI meet on Y2K problem in city

MUMBAI: The All India Association of Industries is organising a seminar to spread awareness about the Y2K problem in embedded systems at manufacturing and process industries. A press release from the organisation warned that the bug could be devastating to companies' output and could even endanger the health and safety of the work force. The seminar will be held on January 7.
