Dhawan booked a last-eight berth against fifth-seed Nikita Bhardwaj (Gujarat). Bhardwaj beat Kameshwari Vadali of Andhra Pradesh 6-0, 6-3 in another match in the top half of the draw.
Third seed Shalini Thakur of Delhi set up a quarterfinal clash against Maharashtra's Stuti Smit. Thakur defeated Saumya Rana (Del) 6-2, 6-3 while Smit bt Delhi's Nikhila Natrajan 6-2, 6-0.
