Student dies A 14-year-old student of Prerna High School, Keyur Jashbhai Patel died in a road mishap near Harni Aerodrome on Tuesday morning when the moped on which he was travelling was hit by a speedy ST bus (GJ-18V-1034). According to the police, Arvind Parshottam Patel, a resident of the nearby Asoj village, was taking his son Bhavina Patel and the deceased on his Luna (GJ-6-P-6981) moped to the school, when a ST bus hit them from behind killing Keyur on the spot and injuring him and his son. The two are undergoing treatment at the SSG Hospital.Two arrested The Gorwa police on Tuesday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of one Jitu alias Jitendra Dakshina, whose body was found from bushes near the Samata flats in Gorwa on January 3. The police said Sunil More, a resident of Gorwa village and Sunny Sujit Kumar Tiwari, a resident of Panchamrut Society on Gotri had been involved in the kidnapping of an autorickshaw driver a year ago. While in jail, they parted ways. After being released, they met at Dakshina's residence for a liquor party on January 3. Dakshina offered them country liquor, which they refused. According to the police, Dakshina then went to see off the two upto the bushes, where they stopped to relieve themselves. Finding an opportunity, Dakshina assaulted them with sticks, but the latter overpowered him and beat him to death. Thief arrested The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) is interrogating a vehicle thief Kiran alias Ajay Devkaran Kavaiya, who was arrested by the Ahmedabad police recently. According to DCB in-charge K C Rajput, Kavaiya had stolen a Hero Honda motorcycle (GJ-6-M-4625) from the R C Dutt Road a few months ago and taken it to Ahmedabad. He was caught by the Ahmedabad police during a special drive to check vehicle papers and then handed over to DCB here. Kavaiya, during interrogations, named one Mansukh Kanjibhai Rathod of Ahmedabad also of being involved in the crime. A police party has left for Ahmedabad to arrest Rathod, DCB sources said.
