NEW DELHI, January 5: A 40-year-old businessman was found dead inside his room at the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) hostel at Jai Singh Road this morning. His wrists had been slashed.Two razor blades were found near the body. The police suspect a case of suicide though no note has been recovered from the spot. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the businessman, Tej Chopra, had lived in the Rajendra Nagar area of Delhi till a few years ago. He had shifted to Bangalore recently. A senior police official also says that Chopra had suffered heavy losses in business deals over the past few months.
None of the hostel staff recall seeing him since yesterday morning. Chopra's body was found around 10.30 a.m. today after an attendant went to call him. The Connaught Place police which is investigating the case have ruled out murder. A passport and some visiting cards which were found in Chopra's suitcase revealed he was originally a resident of Delhi. The police have traced his family and have found that he maintained little contact with them.
