Dacoits strike in S. Delhi
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, Jan 5: Dacoits struck late in the evening today at the house of a doctor near New Friends Colony in South Delhi and decamped with Rs 10,000 and gold jewellery. According to the police, the five unidentified men gained entry into the house, 789/7 Zakir Nagar, after announcing that they were friends of the owner, Dr Ghazala Ahmed, a Unani doctor. They then took out country-made revolvers and knives and told her to surrender the valuables and cash in dollars kept in the house. Incidentally, the doctor's husband Ishrar Ahmed had recently returned from Saudi Arabia. The incident took place, around 8 pm, when the men of the house had gone to offer namaz in a nearby mosque. When Ghazala resisted, one of the robbers tried to attack her with a knife. According to the police, another robber prevented him from using the knife and was injured in the process. The police have reportedly rounded up two suspects for interrogation. Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
