Employment racket busted, three held
With the arrest of three youths, the east district police have claimed to have busted a gang of cheats who were allegedly operating all over the Capital. On January 5 the Shakarpur police received information that a group of young men were cheating people by getting employment advertisements published in various newspapers for jobs like supervisor, clerk, technician in reputed companies like Mahindra, Honda and Vespa.
Unemployed youth from all over the country apparently responded to these advertisements. But the police say that the companies were fake and hadn't been registered. When the bio-datas and application forms were received, the gang would allegedly call the applicant and ask for a Rs 1,160 registration fee. They allegedly assured the prospective employee that they would get back to him or her in two months. That never happened.
The police finally nabbed the three involved in this racket from B-6 Laxmi Complex, Subhash Chowk, Laxmi Nagar -- where they had an office under the name of Vespa Industries -- and from B-28, Maurya Complex, Subhash Chowk -- where they were operating under the name of Honda and Mahindra Industries.
The three have been identified as Atul Mishra alias Anil (23), Manoj Sharma (20) and Parvez Khan (18). Two cases of cheating have been registered against them, and the police is now looking for four of their associates.
