MACHTECH show begins

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
VADODARA, Jan 7: A five-day mega exhibition of machinery, machine tools and technology -- MACHTECH '99 -- got underway at the city's Akota Stadium on Thursday. The exposition has brought together engineering and machinery industries to secure marketing and other strategic objectives, offers a collective platform and accommodate manufacturers and entrepreneurs of national and international levels to interact, promote or diversify their industrial enterprises.

Comprising 225 stalls, the exhibition has been organised by K and D Communication Ltd and approved by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO). Displays have been framed under various categories such as the international pavilion, heavy machinery and machine tools, power, infrastructure and technology, newly launched and special industrial products, pharma and chemical machinery and others.

The exposition was inaugurated by E Kismartoni, Commercial Counsellor and Trade Commission, Hungarian Trade Commission, Mumbai. Speaking on the occasion, guest of honour Chairman and Managing Director N Ramanuja said, ``Exhibitions of international and national scale are important as such events bring together the manufacturers, users as well as research and development agencies to interact and synergise the process of development and globalisation. Such efforts at a regional level are also equally important to provide the much-needed thrust to the specific development needs of each reason''.

K and D Communication Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Kamlesh Gohil said MACTECH '99 was a continuation in the ENGIMACH series of exhibitions organised in 1997 and 1998 at Ahmedabad. The major national participants in the event include HMT Ltd, Bharat Freitz Werner (BFW), Godrej and Boyce, Mysore Kirloskar, Electronica, Jaya Solrocco (Italy) and Geedee Weller, among others. The event organisers have also announced ENGIMACH 2000, to be held at Ahmedabad in January 2000 focussing on the city as the prime industrial nerve centre.
