VADODARA, Jan 7: The city civil court on Thursday rejected petitions of students Janak Makwana and Jatin Vasavada, seeking that re-elections to student union of the M S University for the current academic year should not be held. The students had filed the petition after the university announced repolling on January 5.
Meanwhile, hearing of cases of Makwana, who had reportedly run away with ballot boxes on the day of the union elections, was adjourned to January 18. Students' counsel Narendra Tiwari said that under the university rules, the dates of the university elections should have been declared during the first semester of the academic session.
Tiwari submitted that the university had already taken a wrong decision by declaring the election dates so late.
He said certain documents signed by the Registrar were as in-charge as well as the registrar. ``One person with two designations cannot not be accepted,'' said Tiwari.
