Trinamool Cong to hold crucial meeting tonight

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

CALCUTTA, JAN 13: The crucial Working Committee meeting of the Trinamool Congress will be held here tonight, to decide the party's stand on joining the Vajpayee Government in the next Cabinet expansion.

All seven MPs of Trinamool Congress, including its Chairperson Mamata Banerjee will attend the meeting, besides four other members, party Spokesman Sudip Bandopadhyay said.

Refusing to make any comment on the possibility of Trinamool joining the Ministry, he said the Working Committee would decide it.

If it joined the Government, the party would prefer the Railway portfolio as this would help implement the ``Bengal package'', he said, adding that the Trinamool Congress' preference had already been conveyed to the Prime Minister.

He also said Trinamool Congress' participation in the Ministry would provide more stability to the ruling BJP-led coalition.
