CHANDIGARH, Jan 14: The 34th Punjab shooting championship got underway at Ranjit Garh Rifle Club, Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur, under the aegis of Punjab State Rifle Shooting Association.According to Raja KS Sidhu, secretary, PSRSA, the three-day meet is being held in senior and junior sections in National Rules (NR) and International Shooting Union (ISU) events for both men and women. The contest is being held in rifle and pistol events.
During the meet, the Punjab State team in pistol and rifle events will be selected to take part in the 42nd National shooting championship to be held at Bangalore from January 21 to February 2.
The PSRSA is hoping to bag the top slot in the forthcoming national meet, the secretary added.
Two shooters from Punjab - Manavjit Singh and Zorawar Singh got silver medal in trap event in the recently concluded 13th Asian Games held at Bangkok.
SAI girls for camp
Four trainees of Sports Authority of India (SAI), Girls Hostel in Sector 18 have been selected for the senior women national hockey camp beginning from tomorrow at Patiala.
According to Jaswinder Singh (coach), the girls are Nishi, Mamta, Harpal and Ashrit Topo.
